Treatment Details

Treatments are done Monday through Friday, usually at the same time each day.
Daily treatments last 10 to 15 minutes.
A weekly status check is conducted during treatment. The radiation oncologist will discuss the treatments and monitor any side effects.
The oncology nurse is available at all times to answer any questions about side effects, nutrition or psychosocial matters.
Once a week during treatment, a port film is taken. The port film is compared to the simulation films to confirm that the radiation treatments are on target.
Four to six weeks after the final radiation treatment, a follow-up appointment is scheduled with the radiation oncologist.
