Radiation Oncologist - The doctor who specializes in the treatment of cancer with radiation. The oncologist determines dose of radiation, area of treatment and the number of radiation treatments.
Radiation Therapist - A registered technologist that performs the actual radiation treatments designed by the radiation oncologist. The radiation therapist maintains a treatment history that documents each treatment administered.
Oncology Nurse - A registered nurse, who assists the radiation oncologist with physical exams, gives medications and helps monitor any side effects that may occur during the course of radiation.
Dosimetry/Physics Staff - Registered professionals who specialize in the planning and design of how radiation will be administered and in the accurate calibration of the radiation-producing machines.
Diagnostic Radiologist - A medical imaging specialty physician who uses conventional x-rays, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging to detect, diagnose and stage disease.
